Chuck Liddell hasn’t set foot in the Octagon, at least as a fighter, in more than a year.

Like most fighters, he still has that itch to compete, but he’s also realistic about where he’s at in his career.

“I still wanna fight. I still like fighting, but my reasons for retiring stay the same,” Liddell said over the weekend. “There’s nothing I can do about that.”

Liddell’s life now revolves around growing the sport. Yeah, he’d much rather be in the Octagon, but his work outside of it keeps him on a busy schedule. Instead of hours on end in the gym, Liddell spends much of his week traveling to different locations where he promotes the sport he loves with personal appearances and helping people understand that mixed martial arts is a sport.

One of the most significant recent developments is the UFC’s new television deal with the Fox family of networks. Liddell would love to be a different part of that deal, stepping into the spotlight when the UFC puts fights on a major mainstream television network, but he seems content with where he’s at, and happy for the fighters that are granted that opportunity.

Let him wipe the floor with Tito one last time. That's one fight he can still win, then retire. Going out on a loss isn't how the Iceman should end his career.

Yes! This is a dream match up for me.

It is perfectly natural for Liddell to want to be in the octagon again. I do not blame him one bit. I used to participate in local volleyball tournaments and nowadays when I see volley games on tv, I feel like going out to the local recreational parks and attempt a few spikes just to see if I can hang with the younger youths.

Chuck vs Arlovski, someone can walk away happy, the other can be carried away in a stretcher

I really like the idea of a fight with Griffin or one more Tito beatdown. They could always bring back the Dean of Mean for a rematch. Other than that I can't really think of anyone because I really don't wanna see him get KO'd again.

Actually how about one more fight between Chuck and Wanderlei their last fights of each of their MMA careers. I bet it would still be one hell of a fight. I know Silva's down and middleweight now but maybe a catchweight or I bet he'd accept the challenge if Chuck gave it.

It wont be long before the UFC establishes a 40 - 50 year old class with weight classes too...lol...jk but I would not be surprised...

Im sure one day 60 year old guys will be in the octagon...UFC trying to get senior citizens involved with the fan base!!1

I watched the interview...Chuck didn't just come out and say he wants to fight. He was asked if it bothered him that he wasn't going to be a part of it and he said yeah. It's not like he's openly campaigning for another fight.

He's a competitor. What do all competitors have in common? They want to compete.

I wouldn't mind seeing Chuck in the octagon one last time but as mentioned before it's gotta be a fight that makes sense.
Not a gimme fight but something that either already has an established history or something that's going to be competitive or exciting.

1.Tito
2.Wandy
3.CC
4.AA

I think those could all be very competitive fights for Liddell. I have a little sympathy for Chuck beacause he was the man of the hour and he wants to be that once more under the biggest platform the organization has ever been apart of but perhaps it's best if he just stays on the sidelines.

Exactly.

He said nothing about having serious intentions to compete again.

Chuck is still one cool SOB. He looks healthy, and has one helluva gig with the UFC. Glad to see a legend like Chuck invloved with MMA still, he deserves it.
