SI.com: Just trying to throw you off your game. So what's next for you? Have you been told your next opponent?

Liddell: Possibly Mauricia "Shogun" Hua. That's what they're saying. If it's the June fight, it will probably be in London. But my trainer is trying to get it moved to Vegas. Too far. (Liddell is based in San Luis Obispo, Calif.)

SI.com: It was no secret you wanted that fight against Silva. Who do you want now?

Liddell: Rampage [Quinton Jackson, who defeated Liddell last summer.] I want that fight again.

Interesting. There are so many good fights that could happen at 205. I am not dissapointed by this one at all.

And I'm having trouble picking a winner. It's all about if Chuck comes out liek he did against Wanderlei, and how much Shogun uses man kicks/knees. There are many if's in this fight, and if it does happen, then I'll be n the fence till the last minute.

I don't really like this fight for Shogun, it's too dangerous. I would hate to see Shogun go 0-2.
IMO Shogun deserves a can in his next fight in order to get back on track.

What ??

A top fighter like Shogun who lost 1 fight in the UFC should fight a can next to protect him to fall 0-2 ??

Man, if the UFC's caliber is too high for Shogun i want to know it sooner than later and the fact that Liddell would probably KO him is not a reason to fight a can instead of him.

The time when you were choising your opponent to protect your record is over, well, i hope anyways.

Rampage and Cro Cop were broth thrown mediocre fighters at first. I wish they would have done the same for the others who came from different environments.

Dont pay attention, T5 is a Shogun hater no matter what he do, he's always against him at every single Shogun thread.

What are you talking about man ??
I picked Shogun to win against Forrest !!

The thing was that i was stunted by the ******* excuses that a lot of peoples were giving to explain his defeate instead of giving the credit to Forrest for being a better fighter that night !!

Now Shogun know what it is to fight in a cage , he have to face a guy close to him in the ranking, not a can to protect him like a baby !!

A real fighter want to fight top fighter, not cans !!

I don't think you could get Shogun to fight a can

Old Chute Boxe mentallity like Wandy they love wars
thanks to fighting in Japan they also love to entertain the fans

Besides Forrest was supposed to be Shogun's easy win
turns out nobody told Forrest

Also Shogun was fighting on no legs and had just got married I think a month or two before I am sure it effected his training

Liddell will definately be a Tough fight Shogun Ko Round 2 is my prediction

I cant wait to see this fight. It all depends on chuck if comes out like he did agaist wandy then it is gonna be a war. If he doesnt then it will be good nite chuck.

OMG I'm so sick of Chuck saying "I want Rampage", yo Chuck, what are your next plans? "Oh well, Rampage is busy so I guess Jardine or Shogun."

OMG Shush it!!!! Rampage already beat you twice and he does not need to prove again he is the better fighter. You get one win after getting owned twice. He still needs 2 more wins IMO over quality fighters.

Shogun wins this one easy IMO. That Wandy was not the one we saw in PRIDE. An injury was keeping Shogun from being the Shogun he used to be. BUt now he's healed and he's going to start running through people like he use too.

No excuses for shogun ... he lost and the guys u seen in pride looked better cuz there were facing minimal competition ... only rampage is shining over here ... everyone else is ... not up 2 par ... yet atleast ... and if this fight happens liddel KO 2nd round shogun is gona chase him right into a liddell over had right
NatedawgThaM
1/31/08 9:47:53PM
^ Shogun and Wandy both beat Rampage so Rampage is minimal talent?

Let's not forget Anderson Silva who fought in PRIDE a few times and Big Nog is about to win the HW title and Gono is 1-0.

Vice Verse, UFC guys would be getting spanked in Japan in a PRIDE ring.

This is a great match up, I remember just a year back when everyone was talking about how Shogun was going to absolutely rape the UFC lightheavy weight division.....Liddell in particular. It really makes me laugh now, I hope it was the knee that was holding Shogun back against Griffin....because if not, he was either very over-rated or the competition in PRIDE was not all it was touted to be. I'm not bashin on Pride I love MMA period, but with all of this said, Liddell would have owned him last year and if this happens and Shogun fights anything like he did last time (after all the talk I was pretty disapointed) Liddell is going to finish him early. Either way I'm pickin Liddell 2 KO.

There also aren't any fixed fights or steroids in the UFC (Beside the guys who get caught), like there was in Pride. In addition, I don't think elbows on the ground and no knees to a downed opponent helps much either...

if shogun fights like he did in anaheim he will have no chance, i would pick chuck to win, but i doubt it will be in vegas with a good lineup so far as it is it doesn't need a chuck lidell fight to push the tickets in may but in london a lidell main event is what it needs with the ufc already losing millions of dollars overseas they should just pack it in, do maybe 1 show a year overseas and the rest in the us.

What are your sources for the fixed fights? The fact that Rampage was told he'd receive a bonus(like KO of the night or sub of the night in the UFC)? Or has there been new developments that I didn't hear about? There aren't any steroids in the UFC? Tim Sylvia, Sean Sherk, Bonner, so on and so on...see my point? Also shogun sliced Forrest open with a nice elbow, so I think he'll be ok in the UFC. Anyone else feel like making outrageous claims? I'd love to prove you wrong to.

Forrest was gonna win, i knew it.

Shogun is a great fighter, but IMO Chuck has got this fight, hes got the right mindset, and i think his fights w/ Rampage and Jardine, something was off about Chuck. But against Wandy, Chuck BROUGHT IT.

Outrageous claims like what? Like any former fighter from Pride that loses is by total fluke? I know you didn't say this outright, but it's the impression you're putting out there all the time. What's outrageous is that there's always an excuse for them losing beside the most honest one, the better fighter won on the given night. Mirko loses to Gonzaga, it's a fluke becuase he didn't train with a cage. He trains in a cage and people post all kinds of photos of him training his ass off with Yvel, Lister, and whoever else, saying Kongo's in for a world of trouble but then he still loses and it's because he wasn't in it mentally and he broke a rib. Shogun loses and it's because he was injured, wasn't used to the cage, and had gotten married. Wanderlei loses and it's because the fight wasn't in Pride. If it was in Pride, Chuck would have been in for a brutal beating.

My only real point being is that it's 100% disrespectful to take away from ANY fighters win by making excuses for the loser afterwards. You're being a hypocrite by making excuses for your favorites, but when someone suggest that the reason the Pride fighters may have been doing better over in Japan is because of steroid or knees and elbows rules, it's outrageous.?? Either way, they're just excuses.

The respectable thing to do after a loss is to not make excuses and try to come back a better fighter by learning from your mistakes and trying to prove yourself in the future. And I don't mean to say it's just the fighters making the excuses, because I know it's the fans such as yourself most of the time.

All in all, it's just getting old. And even if Chuck fights and defeats Shogun, it wouldn't matter to you or the other guys that still can't face the fact that some of the fighters from Pride aren't the MMA Gods you thought they once were. He'll still be the most over rated guy in history that can't win against strikers and can only beat grapplers.

Even if he beats Chuck its not going to prove he's the best at 205 right now. The division is too deep for that and Chuck is 1 and 2 in his last three fights, I think it would bounce him back up into the top 5 and set up a #1 contender fight for him but thats as far as I see it taking him.

this is a very dangerous fight for both guys and for that reason i kind of doubt it will happen. i hpe im wrong because it could be a war but either chuck loses 3 out of 4 or shogun starts in the ufc at 0-2. nether one of these guys should get a can but they also should maybe not get each other quite yet. for real mma fans the loser, provided they look good, will not take much of a fit but to the average joe losing 3-4 or going 0-2 to begin is a big deal.

i think this is a bad matchup for shogun but i still think he will pull it out, although it could go either way.

I can see it going one of two ways, either rua tries to take chuck down or clinch with him, chucks gets away and ends up getting a 2R KO, or rua utilises his leg kicks and takes chucks power away, and getting himself a UD, kinda like what jardine did. Just my opinion of course. I think when it comes to it though ill be picking the iceman.

As previously expressed int his thread, I'd like to concur when I say:

NO WAY SHOULD CHUCK GET TO FIGHT RAMPAGE AGAIN!!!!

That said, it seems Chuck believes he has divine right to attempt to avenge all his losses regardless of being 1-2 in his last 3 fights; like it's a stigma that he has to get out of his head before he can be satisfied with life. And furthermore the UFC should accomodate him. Please. Chuck should have to face Lyoto Machida after the Machida/Ortiz fight or the winner of the Thiago Silva/Rashad Evans fight...which I hope it's Thiago.

The issue I see with that and people can chide all they want is I think Tito wins that fight, winner of Thiago/evans would be cool.

Alexander Otsuka 4-13

Tatsuya Iwasaki 0-1. His only MMA fight.

Hiromitsu Kanehara 12-18-1

Ikuhisa Minowa 38-27-8. Nowhere near Wandys level.

Yuki Kondo Another fight that should never have happened. Isn't in the same league as Wandy
