No, Chris Lytle did not tap out during this past Saturday's co-"Fight of the Night" bout with Kevin Burns at The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale.

Soon after the June 20 fight aired live on Spike TV and Lytle was awarded a unanimous-decision win, MMA forums lit up with claims stating that veteran fighter tapped out late in the first round after Burns connected on a solid uppercut and took the fight to the mat.

However, on today's edition of MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio), Lytle (27-17-5 MMA, 6-9 UFC) said he never tapped out in his previous 48 professional fights and that he didn't tap out in this one either.

I thought he tapped out for bit, like he tapped quick but then changed his mind and stopped.

But he didnt and good thing he didnt.

I thought he was just doing it to show the ref that he was still active and not out. Looked funny for someone to be tapping on their way up.

Really weird, but who knows what was going on? It doesn't seem like the type of situation in which he would tap at all. Like Lytle would ever tap in any situation in the first place, LOL.

Looks like he was waving the ref away before he jumped in. No tapping there, he didn't even come close to hitting the mat.

I thought that he was considering it during the fight, and the ref didn't catch it. He was rocked pretty hard before it happened, but I'm glad it didn't go that way.

This fight left me a little sore afterward. I bet, parlayed, and pick Burns based on his wrestling and Lytles lack of take down defense. I would have never guessed Burns would bang with him for 3 rounds. I'll admit I wasn't complaining after the first, but seconds into the 2nd rd I began screaming take him down at my tv for about the next 11 minutes. So being the sore loser I am I say.... he tapped and the ref should've stopped the fight. LOL

Lytle is not the person to tap out due to strikes, ever. Did you see his fight against Koscheck? Burns was swarming him with punches and Lytle's arms went flailing as he was trying to get up. The same thing happened to Forrest in the Rashad fight.

To me it looked like he waved his hand signifying he was still in the fight 'cause he got hit and breifly went limp, so I thought he was just moving his arm to basically tell the ref "I'm not out."

As soon as I saw what he did I was positive he tapped out. I posted it immediately on Dana White's and Joe Rogan's Twitter pages

I thought he tapped when I first saw it, but it really isn't Chris' style and he did only hit the mat once--so it could be caused by a lot of things--like he was trying to post up and he was hit and went a little limp etc. If he was tapping he probably would have at least hit the mat 3 times or until the ref stepped in. He's lucky though, because I could see a lot of refs stepping in at that moment.

He didn't tap out LOL.

I saw this on TV as well, and it LOOKED like he was tapping, but he wasn't even in a position to get tapped.

I am a huge Lytle fan but I did notice "the tap". I will watch it again later but I am positive he did tap for a second.

jus wached a few times in slow motion looks like after he gets rocked he maybe thinks about tapping but the hand only taps the mat once so i believe you have to tap the mat 2 or 3 times not sure, watching it live i did thought he tapped.

that's exactly how i saw it. if you look closely, you can see that herb started to close in on the two fighters, and Lytle wanted to make sure that the fight wasn't going to be stopped so he signaled to herb.

(no tap) you cant tap in mid air. and if he was he might as well done it verbally.

As stated above, he didn't tap against anything.

I personally, watching it live, thought he was indecisive about using that arm to defend a punch coming under the chin or towards the back of the head, hence the arm movement, and then decided to stand.

Regardless, there doesn't have to be a reason like above for it, because he never tapped and wasn't in a position to be needing to tap.
