If there were no rounds, time limits or stand-ups do you think that would change who the best fighters in the world were? (assume there are still weight classes and other modern rules)

Well, of course.

Clearly gives an edge to the grapplers, wrestlers, and jiu-jistu specialists, because they're more built around the ground game whereas strikers need to be in standup.

Its hard to say, i mean, my first thought was that guys like sherk would be beating almost everybody becouse he can lay on people all day and not get tired... but hes already successful anyways even with the rounds and stand up system.

actually i do think sherk would do really good, he would be like the coleman/kerr of old with how they used headbutts and being able to open cuts with further with fingers, i think he'd do really good.

another fighter that comes to mind is Gilbert Yvel, he is good, but man is he dirty. with no rules im sure he'd do much better.

also i dont think Fedor would be as dominant with no rules, as im sure everyone would try to cut him with elbow/headbutts etc....

Cheick Kongo would have a chance....

But I think grapplers would have the advantage. The grapplers would get their opponent down, and elbow them in the back/side of the head. (Pardoel vs. Weit for example).

i think with no rules wanderlei and shogun would still be super awsome but people like chick and randy and fedor are doomed i think page could do good at adirty fighting

All I can say is remember what happened to Coleman vs Smith. Yes there were rounds but strikers figured out how to beat powerhouse wrestlers.

I think it would be just as even as today because remember that with no rounds all a wrestler with nor G&P or Subs can do is lay. With round and points for takedowns I think wrestlers have actually been assisted.

Muay Thai fighters would be more danderous due to kicking a downed opponent and stomping.

It's hard to tell. It's easy to just say oh grapplers would dominate but I only think that would happen in really really long fights where the bottom fighter has no energy left to get up.

The inclusion of headbutts is also huge.
