Following Nick Diaz's claims that he has never paid taxes in his life, Cesar Gracie says that, if anything, Nick has overpaid in the past.Link
In all seriousness though, Nick is not an employee of the UFC, so I'm assuming he's just issued a 1099-MISC. He would no doubt would have to pay quarterly taxes, so it seems like an odd statement to make for someone dealing with taxes 4x as frequently as the average person. Maybe he misspoke, I don't know. Could just be Cesar trying to use a little misdirection...he is good at that, after all. I'm sure we'll know before long.
IRS will check into this especially since its so public. Same shit happened on the Howard Stern show a few years back. Crazy Cabby mentioned on the air he didnt pay taxes and the IRS did their thing. End story he paid an amount and went to jail for 1 year.
I was listening to beatdown after the bell....Jordan and TJ seemed to agree that Nick Diaz isn't the only one. They spoke of knowing much smarter ppl (then Nick) involved in mma not paying their taxes. They were surprised he said it publicly but didn't seem surprised that he doesn't do it.
Taxes are super complicated for fighters. That documentary Broke talks about folks within sports getting screwed royally on taxes. Not only do they have to pay federal, but you have to pay state taxes in every state you compete in and in every country as well. Guys try to do it themselves or have managers do it whom have no real tax experience, and end up screwing it all up.
I often mistake not paying for overpaying.
The government didnt tell nick that his taxes were scheduled and he only had 2 hours of sleep and wanted to be at his best and had to get on a plane the next day
