After a 15-minute emasculation of Heath Herring (Pictures), even in the face of other notable Saturday night happenings, I was fully aware Brock Lesnar (Pictures) was going to dominate my inbox come Sunday morning. However, I expected most of the discussion to be centered on his obvious potential as a heavyweight, with requests for me to impersonate Joe Silva by forecasting Lesnar's future fighting engagements.

Instead, I have been swarmed with and puzzled by dozens and dozens of choleric and venomous messages from incensed fans who have apparently suffered damaged psyches at the hands of Brock Lesnar's in-cage antics.

Good article. I think people were looking for a reason to dislike Lesnar.

Yeah. Whether people like sherdog or not, Jordan Breen is a great MMA reporter and gets my vote for most knowledgeable guy in the sport today.

agreed and I think we need to move on- Loads of people were on the brock hater wagon- He is talented or gifted or whatever- hes no Kimbo- Hes no Bobb App- he is a world class athelete that is taking his trasition into an MMA carreer SERIOUSLY--

If you dont think he is great for mma your wrong- HE is a huge draw- and he did not want any gimmies..... no "cans" as we say.

lets move on- Get over it.

I agree leave the man alone what he did was no different than Chuck screaming or Tito digging his grave or Anderson doing everything that he dose after a win. He won he dominated and the Crazy hose did nothing to stop him. If him riding him like a bull was so bad why did everyone think Randy spanking Tito was so funny. People still want to believe Brook is not the real deal and you know what he is I think he is more of the real thing than any thing we have seen in a long time and if the man learns some BJJ the HW world better start to step up there game and that goes for all HW's out there.

with all of you. People cheering for him to lose had nothing after his dominance so conveniently they have another reason not to like Lesnar.

Good read and whather people like it or not Brock Lesnar is going to be a big part of the HW division for a while. He showed Saturday that he is for real. No joke Herring has to still be lying in bed after that beating. Props to Heath, those knees to the ribs/kidneys were brutal.

I think a lot of what Brock was doing had to do with the amount of pressure he put on himself and that Heath was talking so much smack. When I seen him smile it was like he finaly realized that he could do this.

I think once he gets used to smashing peoples faces in he will get better.

I personally had no problems with the lasso, but I didn't like it when he screemed at the crowd.

I could have done without Cheick Kongo's "belt wearing motions" at the post interview

Breen FTW!

I really disagree. That might be true of a lot of people, but I was honestly one of the guys defending him before this fight. Look up any Lesnar thread, I backed him 100%. I truly just hate it when people are disrespectful to their opponents. I believe martial arts in general are about respect and discipline above all else and I think a display like that is disgraceful. Sorry, but I was absolutely not looking for a reason to hate Brock, I was really pulling for him, but now I'm pretty disappointed in him. His fighting was impressive, his attitude was not.

The reason I disagree that his celebration was the same as other people's is that he was directly demeaning his opponent, not just celebrating his win. None of the other celebrations he listed involve demeaning their opponents. Gomi doesn't stand on his opponent's back and pretend to surf then laugh and point at them, he stands on the ropes and pumps the crowd up. It's a pretty big difference IMO.

You know if brock had only done the lasso I would have had no problem with that at all. It's the sitting on his back and pretending to ride him like a bull and laughing and pointing that I think are uncalled for. I have no problem with a post fight celebration, but that's pretty demeaning shit honestly.

funny... i've been reading and not posting for a solid 5 months now.. but this brought me outta the wood work.. Lesnar will need to change his attitude before I ever cheer for him again. I bet on him against mir, and i bet on him against herring... and I've been telling a lot of people who werent sure about his talents that he was the real deal.. that he just needed the time and training to sucessfully transition his skills to mma. I still think that he's a top contender at HW and is realistically a top10 in the world after only 1 significant win and a loss to a contender. Despite all that, I dont think that his antics during the end of the fight and during the post fight interview can be evenly compared to any other fight antics in the ufc's recent history. Silva... as humble and respect as he is at most times... he has his cocky moments.. but you respect that because he is so damn good and he does show so much humility 99% of the time. The closest comparison that you can make is probably to tito's grave digging routine after whooping shamrock. Some found that funny, some found that disrespectful but i personally find that riding your opponent in a humiliating fashion for the final seconds of the fight is considerably worse. There's a line that most people draw for during and post fight antics.. and for me lesnar crossed the line on one and then the other.

Here's what i reminded many of my friends watching that fight.. Lesnar is 1 - 1 in the ufc. When silva danced around franklin's flurry of strikes in their second fight with the crazy head movement.. it was a little flashy.. but you know what? silva is the no1 mw in the world and at least p4p the no2 fighter in the world... so you know what, like it or not, he deserves that breathing room. Lesnar almost had his foot snapped off by a fighter who was a .500 fighter in his last 4 and needed 6 months to prep for his next fight so he wouldnt get whooped again. Congrats for getting your first W against a real opponent, but he was dancing around like he had just beat fedor straight outta the WWE when in reality he won a solid decision over another fighter who was .500 in his last 4. If lesnar was as dominant of a fighter as he is in his own mind, that fight wouldnt've lasted past the first round... i've never seen a wrestler lose the mount so easily so many times in one fight

Right now, in my mind, lesnar brought all the best from NCAA's div 1 wrestling, and all the worst from the WWE

if you wanna be a dick, save it for when you're not a .500 fighter

Yep that's about the size of it. "Showing another competitor up" in any sport isn't cool. Especially in combat sports where by just competing both fighters show a tremendous amount of heart and are risking a lot. Therefore each should realize the nature of their sport and with that a mutual respect should develop. MLB comparison......a rookie comes in and hits a jack of an established veteran pitcher and stands at home plate stares and then begins the slow trot.....ya doesn't happen. "Showing up" competition is taboo among the actual athletes.....but if your a casual couch potato fan some may think its pretty cool.
