Colorful boxing veteran Ricardo Mayorga, who's fought everyone from Oscar De La Hoya to Shane Mosley to Félix Trinidad, is heading to the world of mixed martial arts.

The Ohio-based Shine Fights, which held its second-ever event on Friday in Florida, made the announcement during its online pay-per-view broadcast of the show.

No debut date or opponent have been determined for Mayorga, a former WBA/WBC welterweight and WBC junior middleweight champion who owns a 29-7-1 career record.

I actually like Mayorga...doubt he will do much against anyone big, but he should be able to light up a few scrubs in the minors!

Haha, this will be interesting. Mayorga was always kind of like the Chris Lytle of boxing. Dude is tough as nails and goes in for a brawl every time. Only problem is his cardio stinks and he's a bit too emotional. Don't imagine he'll find much success considering the ground game and the fact that he's known for a poor work ethic, but it will be interesting no less. Wonder if he'll smoke cigarettes after MMA matches, too

Well, he won't have to pull the gloves off to do it lol

Edit- Also, I wish Kermit Cintron would make the transition, apparently he was a top collegiate wrestler, and his boxing is good enough for HBO. So imagine that guy learning sub and kick defense.

I'm pretty sure Kermit talked all kinds of **** a year or so ago about MMA, and called out Sean Sherk or something...I dont remember all the details, but I think both of them were involved and it had to do with Kermit talking smack about MMA guys

Kermit would Dee stroy Sherk.

Mayorga has a pretty rough and tumble style.

Hopkins is dirttyyy and would do VERY well in MMA with the rule changes. The guy is never out of shape, has all kinds of D and can Ko most MMA guys but wrestling? He fought in prison so I'm sure he could learn. ;)
