I had no idea BODOG had an upcoming show, so thanks for that.

I do know that BODOG is not running any more PPVs for the foreseeable future. They had something like 10,000 buys for the Fedor v. Lindland fight card, and they want to wait until they have a marquee match to sell before attempting another PPV event.

So...I guess this show will be on ION. But again, I had no idea they were running a show this month.

BLH vs Zentsov & Kondo vs Prangley caught my eye right away...

Always nice to see Edwards, Suloev, and Alvarez on the card too... Wonder when the Goat's gonna defend his new belt though?

I saw Matt Lee fight at the MMAC Revolution show in DC and he didn't impress me. He won, but didn't look great. It was an awkward fight. He fought on the undercard in a show that wasn't televised. I don't know how he got the main event on a Bodog card. I guess that shows you where Bodog is at in the food chain.

James Binky Jones is from Team Ground Control in Baltimore. I hear he is good.

I sort of make it a point not to read blogs in general. Why should I care what some goof is listening to on his iPod, or how much fun he had at Olive Garden last weekend? Answer: I don't care at all, hence I don't read them.

Which makes it difficult, now that basically every online column for even reputable websites are called blogs these days, but those don't count. I have to be careful though...every once in a while, you can be going along, reading about something interesting and WHAM, this jerk starts talking about how he's sad because he had to take his cat to the vet to get a shot and now his cat limps on the one leg.

Current Mood: Annoyed.

I agree with the general distain for blogs, but this guy works for the baltimore sun (A crappy, but real news paper). He won't mention his lame ass cat or his current relationship status or the promptness of his BMs or his toe infections. He interviews real people and has some level of conection to the sport and those in it. He receives press stuff and often reports things quickly.

See what I mean? This is a newpaper's website, and they put his column under the BLOG section because...well, I have no idea why. Becuase BLOG is hip and cool and trendy? That's dumb. NOT A BLOG.

I read this guy. Remember when I took him to task for his "what on earth was he watching?" review of MMAC? I usually like his stuff. He had an interview with, I believe Tim Sylvia, that was pretty interesting.

Really? That's... lame. I wonder what happened?

I was mad at myself for having missed it. I could've used something to do on Saturday night, too.

Yeah, some surprising results there.

I don't know if we're worried about spoilers here, but... SPOILERS!

155 lbs: Jorge Masvidal def. Yves Edwards via TKO (strikes) - R2
185 lbs: Chael Sonnen def. Amar Suloev via TKO (strikes) - R1
HW: Branden Lee Hinkle def. Roman Zentsov via unanimous decision - 3 rounds
170 lbs: Eddie Alvarez def. Matt Lee via unanimous decision - 3 rounds
185 lbs: Trevor Prangley def. Yuki Kondo via TKO (cut) - 2 rounds
135 lbs: Tara LaRosa def. Kelly Kobold via submission (armbar) - R4

Edwards, Suloev, Zentsov, and Kondo all lost. I think that says something about the level of talent in BodogFight - not quite equal to the UFC or Pride, but at least as good as the WEC and the IFL. Sonnen, Prangley and Hinkle are a combined 4-5 in the UFC, which isn't so bad (one of Prangley's UFC wins was against Sonnen so, for these purposes, the trio is 3-4 against UFC competition).

I think we should note that a big Bodog show might happen three times a year and be stacked with all the guys that Bodog has with any sort of resume. Prangley was the favorite, so that is not very surprising. Its like if the UFC had three shows a year and Liddell, A. Silva, Hughes, Franklin, Couture, and all the other big names all fought on every card. Bodog might have some names, but they are far from deep. Because of the team format the IFL doesn't need as many names and the WEC is a minor league for the UFC and is still much deeper then Bodog. Bodog is a third class org. I think they would go under if they didn't have a casino backing them.

True, but I'm not convinced that the other organizations are so much deeper. The IFL seems to have more good fighters than BodogFight. I'm not granting the WEC anything yet, although I expect them to grow faster than BodogFight. Anyway, even if you're right, that's no reason not to enjoy their cards (when they let us, of course - I'm curious why the card wasn't broadcast this weekend). 3 decent cards a year is better than none.

I totally agree with you, but I wouldn't pay for any of there cards. Even if they have Fedor v. Lindland II. They don't police the video streaming sites and I can watch it there. I will admit that I was up late saturday waiting for results. Three fights that I cared about all ended predictably.

Eddie Alvarez def. Matt Lee - I saw Lee fight in May at a show
Trevor Prangley def. Yuki Kondo - Had money on it
Nick Agallar def. James "Binky" Jones - Jones is from a local MMA team.
