Heavyweight prospect Bobby Lashley (5-0 MMA, 1-0 SF) got a little more notice this time around.

After two scheduling snafus kept him from the Strikeforce cage in April and May, The former TNA and WWE "professional wrestler" will face fellow undefeated heavyweight Ron Sparks (5-0 MMA, 0-0 SF) on the televised portion of "Strikeforce: Los Angeles."

Multiple sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that verbal agreements have been reached between the fighters and contracts are expected shortly.

People are WAY too impatient in MMA.

The guy shouldn't have to face top competition in his sixth fight.

Wait until he's in double digits.

Um Ron Sparks is a beast, and not a gimme fight at all. I wouldnt be suprised at all if he knocked lashley out. They both trained together for a while. Ron is a very heavy handed striker, with all his wins comin by KO in the 1st round, except for his last fight which was a decision. He'd have 20 fights by now but every single time he's supposed to fight his opponent either sees him at the weighins and pulls out, or all of a sudden they get "Injured". Hell Ray Mercer wouldnt even fight the guy. Im not sayin that he will beat lashely but This isnt a gimme fight for lashley at all. With that bein said Im cheerin for the Louisville boy Ron to KTFO Lashley.

I dont know about him being a beast, I think hes KO'd a bunch of guys half his size. He's probably the best fighter in the Louisville area, but I dont like his chances against Lashley.

I think that Lashley is very under-rated. I like this match-up and I seriously hope they don't rush Lashley along.

Great thread! BlueSkiesBurn I can't agree with you anymore. Lashley is very under rated. He definately needs to get some fights under his before talks of a heavyweight title shot. Experience is so crucial in the sport and Lashley knows it. One thing he excels in a major way is his ground game and that is a major plus.

the problem with slowly gaining in experience is that you dont get any by absolutely owning the wes sims' and bob sapp's of the world in the first round

It's something, though. Lashley doesn't need to be rushed along. He's got plenty of time to rise up the ranks. I say let him slow his roll and work on all facets of his game.
