Your rules state a 48 hour limit. After that you could skip them. During bidding it means you miss that round, during card result voting it means your votes don't matter.

There is no motivation without consequence....

im down w/ a time limit in the future, but Holidays & times when prior notice was given should not count against you. We all have that thing called "real life" that gets in the way every now & then

Perhaps releasing the lists of fighters a little in advance would help people prepare ahead of time? But in regards to voting on card results it really isn't worth waiting for one straggler to make his choice...

Eh... I see what you mean but this isn't filling out one bracket and getting a week to do so. It's the responsibility of checking this every 24-48 hours and taking 10-15 minutes to make picks/enter bids for the next year possibly.

I'm in Hashy's boat, usually I'm available to submit picks right on the deadline but sometime's I'll be out of town or completely swamped with work to the point that being expected to act promptly EVERY time isn't really doable.

How about this idea to make picks for people's fights.... what if Ray sent each person's card to a random person. So each person is PM'ed one card that isn't their own. That one person (who remains anonymous) picks all the results on that card, and all the cards are done in a single round of picking that could take anywhere from 1-4 days.

That resolves two issues I have with this game. 1) The necessity to check it every 48 hours for the next year. 2) I feel like having everyone vote for fight results really fazes out the ability for upsets to happen. For instance, I don't think anyone would pick Jon Jones to lose to anyone other than Anderson Silva. He has a 0% chance to lose in most cases where it should be like 4-5%. Having one person choose the outcomes puts more responsibility on that person to know the fighters, but it also opens the door for critical upsets. Maybe send it out to three people if you're afraid one person may make biased picks (a la Jjeans picking Nick Ring over Anderson Silva cough cough)

I love you all but I can tell you Im not changing the format of the game, I pointed out at the start if the game that we need people who log in at least once every 48 hrs, if you cant do that in most cases then this isnt the game for you.

I also know some of the new players are getting impatient, unfortunately waiting is a big part of this game.

As people who play my games will know I dont like changing the game part way through, but as from the next version I will include the 48 hr rule with a 10% of threshhold fine for those that miss the deadline and a further 10% for each 24hrs after.

At the moment we have just passed 48 hrs, if we get to a whole week without 1 person making there move then as stated in the rules they will be removed from the game.

Also as a rule of thumb, you should check to see if you need to do any updates if you log in, i get frustrated when people log in and I see them posting or they message me saying ill do this tomorrow, if your logged in then catch up.

Each update for you guys takes at the most 15 mins, my updates can sometimes take up to 1 hr.

Rant over

What is a threshold fine. Like we're docked 10% of the money we get from our card?

Also, with the logging in every 48 hours thing.. I just wish there was a way to do all the cards at once or something. Like post all 11 cards and give us a week to pick them all? I think all of us login every 48 hours on average, but to say I can't go 48 hours without logging in at any point without being fined really stinks.

Overall, Ray you do a shitload to keep this game rolling and above all else thanks for dedicating the time to it along with all the other ventures you have going on right now!

Rd 1 the threshold is 1mill up to round 5 the threshold is 5mill.

This isnt the first draft project and we tried picking them all the templates at once an it was really hard, but if people want to do that all the cards are posted on the thread, feel free to pick the templates and PM them to me.

I can store them and post them when its time.

we've done this in the past. most of us hated it after a while, so we went to one card at a time. different strokes, i know, but i think you would hate making the picks that way after a while. when it was exhausting, we only had 6-7 people playing. add 4 extra cards & eventually 40 more fights to that each time & i think it'd be much much worse

You can say youve finished bidding and stop bidding, but you still have to put on the fight cards and pick the templates.

Or you can drop out of the game.

Its not unusual for people to drop out and there is no hard feeling and also it doesnt effect if you want to play in a future game, (but you cant rejoin this one)

I don't mind the 48h limit as it is a fair window but there are times where things come up that take precedence over this site, let alone the side games. I try to keep up, and for the most part I do but there are times where I'm not around. This past weekend I was one of the fortunate people to have worked Friday, Saturday and Sunday (with no internet access), then I had family Easter dinners Saturday and Sunday so I didn't have a chance to log on this weekend. I have exams coming up the next two weeks so I won't be on the PG as much as I normally am.

Those are just my excuses, other people will have their reasons from time to time. As P_F and Budge said, these draft projects take a long time to go through. Add in the fact we now have twice as many people as usual so this will drag on much longer than normal.
