Paul Kelly vs. Paul Taylor was an all out war.

Leben vs. Sakara

Top 5 in order from your list. IMO
1 Penn vs. Sherk -well executed beatdown.
2 Diaz vs. Pellegrino - Almost exclusively on my list for memorable finish.
3 Sylvia vs. Nog - All around great fight.
4 Bocek vs. Danzig - SoOO much heart.
5 Mir vs. Lesnar -So hyped, tons of energy and the desired finish.

I'd throw in Penn v. Stevenson for the amount of blood.

Tyson Griffin v. Gleison Tibau, because no matter who Tyson faces he always makes the other guy look good. That in turn makes the fight good. It wasn't Griffin/Guida, or Griffin/Tavarres, but I wouldn't throw it away if I were looking to showcase a rising Lightweight.

You don't have to show the whole fight on this hypothetical DVD, but somewhere in there, put the ending of Boestch/Heath.. That's a must for the DVD.

At this point in time it's Anderson Silva's only fight to showcase, but Silva/Henderson. It might fit better on a Best of Anderson Silva DVD than this, but it's worth throwing out there and seeing if it made the final cut.

You can put Quarry/Starnes on the gag reel (because Starnes made me gag).

Much like putting the ending of Boestch/Heath on the special features somewhere, you should also put the ending of Maia/Herman.. That choke while punching Herman was a beauty.

If you wanted a "who's who of the new faces of the UFC" section, you could throw in small clips of Cain Velasquez, Shane Carwin, Rousimar Palhares, Goran Reljic, Dong Hyun Kim, and Yoshiyuki Yoshida.

Just for the general "best fights of the year" section, I suggest Penn/Stevenson, and Griffin/Tibau.

I disagree with sanchez fioravanti. There was a good amount of action, but I thought sanchez came in with a bad gameplan and struggled with an opponent that he could have beaten much more easily if he used his jiu jitsu. It's fine to entertain the fans, but I enjoy a good display of JJ just as much if not more than a standup war, and I don't like seeing fighters take unnecessary risks instead of executing the best possible gameplan.

-Edit-
Basically what I mean by that is I think an entertaining fight is only truly entertaining when both fighters are fighting their best fights. I don't think Sanchez was, it looked more like he was just trying to practice his standup against someone he felt confident he would beat.

I would have to say the best 2 fights of the year were Josh Burkman vs Dustin Hazelett, and Josh Koscheck vs Dustin Hazelett

I would also add Sanchez v Hardonk. That was an all action fight with a great finish.

I personally think that a FOTY award should really be given to competitive fights. If someone gets finished in the 1st round (e.g., Lesnar-Mir) it shouldn't really be a FOTY candidate.

The problem is this fight had so much hype and it had Brock Lesnar making his debut. You know the UFC wants to market him as much as possible. Also it had a great ending if you are any kind of a hardcore fan.

best fight in general was probably Big Nog vs Sylvia with extra props going to Paul Kelly vs Paul Taylor as well..

for me though, my favourite moment so far was when Thiago Alves knocked Karo Parisyan the **** out. not only was it hilarious to see how fast Karo protested the stoppage (even though he was clearly KOed), but it was great to see Thiago get the well deserved win

for MMA all together, fight of 2008 so far was definitely..
Miguel Torres vs Yoshiro Maeda
and i cant ****** wait for the rematch!
