Bellator Fighting Championships’ Season 7 featherweight tournament will come to a close Dec. 7 when finalists Rad Martinez and Shahbulat Shamhalaev square off at Bellator 83. confirmed the booking Monday with a source close to the event, which will air live on MTV2 and from Caesars Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, N.J. The main card will also feature women’s champ Zoila Gurgel in a non-title affair against Jessica Eye, while former bantamweight titlist Zach Makovsky takes on Anthony Leone.

Martinez looks to improve on a perfect 4-0 Bellator record after the biggest win of his career, a Nov. 9 unanimous decision against WEC vet Wagnney Fabiano. The 25-year-old wrestler, who signed with the promotion last year after appearing on ESPN’s “Outside the Lines,” punched his ticket to that semifinal matchup with an Oct. 12 outpointing of Nazareno Malegarie.

Shamhalaev has put in considerably less work during his tournament run, taking out two opponents in a combined 6:34. After halting Cody Bollinger toward the end of the opening round in their quarterfinal, the Russian import made his way to the final by stopping favored American Mike Richman in less than two minutes on Nov. 2.

Undercard bouts confirmed for the event include Chris Liguori vs. Darrell Horcher at lightweight, Brylan Van Artsdalen vs. Terrell Hobbs at featherweight and Matt Lozano vs. Tuan Pham at flyweight.

Rad has a spot in my heart for 2 reasons

1) He has given up so much more of his life then most of us would due to his fathers health and well being. He gets his dad up in the morning and exercises him and then baths and dresses him. After that is done he feeds him and then makes sure hes safe before going and training. He gets up the next day and starts over. He hasn't had the chance to start a family due to what he feels he owes his dad. That brings a tear to my eye everytime I think about it. I saw the story on ESPN back in July of 2011.

2) Because I saw the story and it hit my heart so hard, I saw a thread about him being picked up by Bellator. I had never posted on the Playground before but I had cruised the threads reading stories for 3+ years. I got up the nerve to post about it and was gonna leave it at that. I received a prop from BlueSkiesBurn and the rest is history. Ive continued to post from there on out.

I have a ton of respect for Rad and the man he is. I hope he wins this tournament not just for him but for his dad as well.

Saw his story on ESPN as well. It's truly amazing the sacrifices he has made, to make sure his dad is taken care of properly. He is so down to earth because of his circumstance, that you can't help but cheer for the guy. I'll be rooting for him to win the tournament
