Greetings and welcome Pride and UFC MMA fans!

MMAPlayground.com's first fight season is about to begin! This inaugural season will kick off with UFC 67 and will span through the next 9 Pride or UFC events after that. For our first season here the winner will receive $500 (real dollars, not fantasy wager dollars!) as a reward for their superior knowledge of MMA combatants. The game is easy to play and free. You've got nothing to lose!

If you're wondering how the game is played, then make sure to read the rules and FAQ's. Also, any feedback is welcome to as we strive to improve the site to be able to move it out of beta status.

So let the games begin!

PS - As site traffic and user numbers increase we'll be looking for some level-headed forum moderators along with a few talented writers who are devoted MMA fans to post news and updates from the rapidly evolving world of popular MMA. If you think you fit the bill for either of these and want to help out, then drop me a line via the Private Mail system here on the site.

So 500 dolars real money or forum money?

$500 real dollars. I'll add some verbiage to clear that up :)

Well now I've seen it all. Now I understand what all my friends are talking about with their Fantasy Football and Baseball leagues.

What does level headed mean?

It means when something makes you mad, you don't just punch it right away, dude.

Omega, did you create a camp at signup? Should we all get in one monolithic one?

Yeah we've got a Team Bullshido all set up.

awww....I really liked my team name...I guess I will play ball though. You have to invite me, I think - that link is just my camp control panel for me. (I've quit the one I made on signup)

I don't see a pending invite in the raw database at the moment. As fight camp leader you can invite someone manually via the fight camp control panel or you can click the link in their profile below their username that will say "Send Invitation To Join Your Fight Camp". It very well could be a programming "oopsy" or maybe a typo on the name invite? Hopefully the fact that the header says "Beta 1.0" will help cover my a$$ a little bit on this one

Try inviting him again and let me know what happens via a PM if ya don't mind. The invite will show up in his "My Fight Camp" page too with an option for "Accept" or "Decline".

Some time tonight or tomorrow we'll have a fight camp directory page set up for everyone to view the list of camps on the site. Any other feedback, use the feedback form

Admin, I think he sent it before I dissolved the camp I made during my account creation.

I got his second invite.

Ahh that might explain it; can't invite someone who's already in a camp. If you do happen to come accross a real glitch, bug, or something you'd like to see done differently on the site just let us know.

You mean send a fight invitation to an email address of someone who isn't a member yet? No, but that's a good idea We'll see if we can make it happen within the next day or two.

Will we be able to make picks for UFC fight night on 1/25? Or are you planning on UFC 67 being your first event and that's why Fight Night hasn't been added?

The reason that the upcoming UFN isn't being featured is because this website has only been online since Friday night and it wouldn't give enough people a chance to sign up in time to win the $500 prize. Hopefully that extra week and a half between the events will result in a larger number of folks being able to join at this season's beginning thus being able to score points from all 10 events to have a shot at coming out on top of the point total.

Nice job on the site so far. Good response for it being up for such a short time. It is going to get crazy here I will bet.

We're making a list of features and things that people have requested for the site so far and one of the items is to be able to invite someone to your fight camp via an email address (someone that hasn't signed up yet). Do you think that this would cover your concern or is there something more specific you'd like to see done? We're open to suggestions on ways to improve usability and/or to build out features that would make game and community more enjoyable.

In building the site our goal was to make something that most any mainstream MMA fan can easily play (thus easy "make your picks" type game, the very simple betting system for those who may not be used to odds +/- style wagers, etc). Even though you or I may love watching the fights that go on in IFL, K-1, or elsewhere, the fighters and events in those organizations aren't as widely recognized. If the IFL or someone else continues to up their stock in the future however, we would deffinitely put the option out there and ask all the members in a private vote or something like that if they would like these events to be included in the game. So for now, no IFL, in the future? Quite possibly.

Thanks for the positive feedback If the trend continues hopefully this site will grow into something special.

I think we should be allowed to pick occasional "super fights" that are not part of UFC or Pride cards, if both fighters are well known. For example, the Frank Shamrock/Renzo Gracie fight on Elite XC, Frank Shamrock/Phil Baroni on Strikeforce, and Fedor/Jeff Monson on Bodog. Comments?
