I just got an iPOD Nano 4th Gen for XMASS and I wanted to ask you guys a question when using iTunes.

When I go to add a movie file (Mpeg format) to my library it does nothing.
What is going on???/?

It's not in a format compatible with iPod/iTunes, specifically not MPEG-4 (MP4) or M4V. MOV files (QuckTime) also sometimes work.

what if i have already converted the .mp4 to mpeg format. why wont it still recognize it?

Did you convert it using iTunes? If not, that's what you need to do, even though it's quite slow.

no i used a program called FlashLynx.... How do you convert Mp4s to Mpeg using iTunes. I didn't know you could do that. Will it convert FLV files as well?

I'm pretty certain iTunes won't do any converting for you...Apple doesn't want to make it easy, when they can sell you videos for premium prices. If you query the specs on google, you can find the exact settings you need when converting. Since it's a new iPod, you should be able to either go with 320x240 or 640x480 resolution. I use my iPod as a portable media player and usually hook it up to a TV to watch, so I usually use the 640x480 (takes a little longer to convert though). I use "Any DVD Converter" for my conversions...it'll convert any format, including FLV's, and has a preset output option for an iPod so you don't have to manually set it up each time.

Are you syncing the iPod once you've added it? You need to make sure that the videos are included in the sync process as well.

it will not take the file converted to itunes. Itunes has the option under FILE to import music and videos on your PC and add it to the library. I have tried moving the Videos to numerous other folders but it still does nothing. I click on import and it does nothing. If i can get Itunes program to import the files i want then i will be able to sync it no problem.

Hmm, strange. I'm assuming you are actually on the Movies tab when watching for it to be added...if so, I'm not sure what the problem is. I just tried both adding a file, as well as the import option, and both worked. It worked for files in the proper format and it even worked for one that wasn't. Also, it looks like the current version of iTunes allows you to convert to the proper fomat. You can convert via the right-click menu once it's added to the library...but it doesn't sound like you're able to get that far.

yup . i have 8.0 i believe. i think there is 8.1 but i downloaded it yesterday???

keep in mind most of my files are Frostwire files. But it seemed to pull all audio files and some videos. when i went to sync the videos it told me it would not be able to play the files so therfore it would not sync.

The program "Ishrink" turns all media into either MP3 or MP4 so it can be saved to your Ipod.
