Grr. I was really looking forward to some free TV Pitbull whoop@ss. Oh well, Diego's thanking his lucky stars.

Hopefully they get Alves on another card soon. He's really got mementum right now.

Hopefully Dana will just stop being butthurt from watching Thiago destroy Hughes and give him the next title shot like he should get. Matt and Thiago were both way about 170 at fight time so I dont get how people dismiss Thiagos win as "not as welterweight" but catchweight...so what? he beat 2 top 10s in a row in the WW division.

Thiago was gonna knock Diego out anyway and it would have been sweet.

Nah..I think it'll happen, just not for free. Probably in one of the PPV that follows, unless it got canceled for another reason (injury, or dont put either one down in the standings)

It wasn't a welterweight fight. He struggles to make weight, and was caught using Diuretics before trying to cut weight. If he continues to struggle to make weight, even with one of the best camps in the world, he needs to consider moving to middleweight.

Yeah

I had my doubts because Playground had their pictures up but UFC.com didn't that is why my forum headline said "...is this legit". I guess not. But I bet it will happen sooner or later. They are great challenges for each other.

If it's only postponed I'm still good for that av bet.

That is so true.
You know what's crazy? Thiago walks around at about 195 lbs on a regular day and Diego says he's a lean 177. When he needs to cut wait he just takes a shit. Still would be a great match up regardless of the size advantage. We all know Thiago can make weight but he struggles with or without the ankle injury/diuretics.

he wasnt caught doing diuretics in his fight with Hughes, that was a different fight. After that he made weight for all of his following fights, except on his fight with Hughes, reason being was that he sprained his ankle previous to the fight, which made his weight go up to a level where he could not bring it back down to 170 in a healthy manner.

granted is not easy for him to cut weight, i dont think he needs to move to middleweight, he has made weight before, and i dont think he'll miss weight again.

Daayuum. This fight was genuinely going to be sick. I hope they put it on a differant card becouse this is kinda a dream match to me. I guess itl help my playground record if the fight doesnt happen though, becouse i really wont know who to pick.

too many fights plus too many good main card fights
i knew this would happen it just got bumped
it will still happen at ufc 90 or 91 in nov they needed to bump a fight and it had to be a fight with no euro fighters on it.
made perfect sense, even ufc.com never did annouce this fight yet
still is great card,,
davis vs kelly is back on main card

If the ankle was that big of a deal he would've backed out. With a camp like ATT there's no excuse for fighting and not making weight.

Man, this was looking like the best upcoming UFC card. Since it's for free I guess they decided it was too much. They shouldn't be scrapping fights for the England show. Considering their last debacle in England they should be bending over backwards to make this fight card the best possible, but instead they took the rug out from everyone.

Hes not gonna turn down the biggest fight of his career and fight a legend, Matt had the opportunity to postpone and didnt. I think he thought if Thiago won people would do exactly what there doing, downplaying his win for the weight issue.

I'm not sure your all thinking right on this fight. I see Diego winning this fight all the way. Alves has always had trouble stuffing the takedowns. What's Diego's game? Taking people down and grounding and pounding them. Also Sanchez's striking game has also gotten alot better. Not that I think he'd stand and bang with him. But he's got to punch to set up those takedowns. I think Diego would win this fight by decision. All you Alves nutthuggers need to recognize...lol!
Wolfenstein

He looked pretty good stuffing Matt Hughes and Karo's takedowns.
