When it comes to his immediate fighting future, Michael Bisping has an admittedly one-track mind.

After winning "The Ultimate Fighter 3," picking up a dozen UFC victories over the past six years, and recently falling just short to now-top contender Chael Sonnen in his most recent bout, Bisping is focused on getting a title shot – and little else.

That's why he chose Tim Boetsch instead of Cung Le as his next opponent.

Bisping (22-4 MMA, 12-4 UFC) recently spoke to UFC matchmaker Joe Silva about his next fight, and he got two offers. One was Boetsch (15-4 MMA, 6-3 UFC), who recently staged a shocking comeback to defeat former UFC title challenger Yushin Okami, and the other was Cung Le (7-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC), who fights for the first time since a late-2011 loss to Wanderlei Silva.

"Because Tim Boetsch is coming off a great win over Yushin Okami, it just made more sense and was the more appealing matchup," Bisping today told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). "It's also a tougher matchup for me, but I want to win that next fight and stake a claim to that title shot.

"I think beating Tim Boetsch rather than Cung Le gives me more grounds to do that."

I agree.

But don't know if he would have been Cung Le.

Either way whoever he chose, he will prolly need at least two more wins after this fight to get a title shot.

I'm not sure Bisping would beat Le. He has a much better chance of out pointing Boetsch then Le IMO.

He knows he can out box Boetch like Okami did for most of the fight. The only problem is I consider Bisping's chin more suspect than Okami's. Interested to see how it plays out.

i think bisping will probably out box boetsch to an easy UD. i dont see bisping getting caught like okami did. i dont like this matchup very much, i like boetsch but i dont think he's at the same level as bisping, im expecting a rather boring fight out of this one, hope they prove me wrong though

I think Bisping takes the UD in both fights to be honest. I just think Boetsch he out strikes and Le he would takedown and beat up on the ground.

Because he's been knocked out ONCE by a hard power puncher?

Why....

Because he's been knocked out ONCE by a hard power puncher?


dont you know that the moment you get KO'd you have a weak chin and will most likely get KO'd in every fight. GSP is the perfect example, even though it was an ear shot

Well, to be fair, he didn't say he has a weak chin, he just said he thinks it's worse than Okami's. Both guys can take quite a lot of punishment.

that's fair, but it seems like whenever a Bisping fight comes up or is rumored, he is going to get KO'd because he has a "suspect chin."

Not a Bisping fan, but he's usually pretty underrated. I'd pick Count over either of them. Kudos to him for picking the harder of the two fights.

I want Boetsch to beat Bisping, but I really want to see Bisping win so he may subsequently get whooped by Anderson Silva.....

Who am I going to cheer for?

I suppose I'll cheer for Boetsch to beat Bisping AND Anderson.
