I'm going to say Kang as well. If Jason beats Franklin though, might change a couple things.

I know GSP is the only current champ, but Newton was the first Canadian MMA champ as far I know. Still I think Kang could be champ this year if he get's a shot. Also, Hominick fit's better at featherweight so I think if the UFC starts a featherwight division Only U. FAber would be his competetion for the belt. He is the fastest paced fighter in the UFC IMO. Other than that, the only current canadian's to fight for a UFC/Pride title that I can think of is Loiseau. So I think that is all that have distinguished themselves currently, since neither McDonald or Cote have a voctory over a contender. I'll just say Newton because he has held a title.

I vote Kang also. I like Loiseau a lot, but he needs to reestablish himself. His last two UFC fights weren't very good. MacDonald would be #4 today.

Do all of you only watch the UFC? Gary Goodridge should be way higher then that. Mike McDonald should be on there as well. I am a big fan of Jason McDonald but how he got on that list after only a couple of wins is beyond me. By far Fedor is the best fighter in the world, and NONE of them got a shot against him except Gary Goodridge. Sure he lost but hey atleast he was considered good enough to be given a chance. None of them are even in the running. Mike McDonald beat CroCop, how can he not be up there???? It wasn't even in an MMA match, where CroCop is weakest, it was a straight up K-1 match.

I'm glad Cote isn't on that list after his last performance.

I'd definately pick Kang.

But Macdonald will overtake that postion in 2008
the loss to Franklin will do him some good

kang for sure, but out of the fighters on the list I have to go with carlos. I would say loiseaux if this was a year ago, but he's been going through a pretty rough patch lately.

What about Doerkson? He has a good record and his only losses are against guys that are top.

Newton is great, but underrated due to his misleading record.

I find that a lot of Canadian fighters go through these waves. They go on a tear and then lose a bunch of fights.
