go figure ESPN would leave out a hockey comparison

I can see why with the NBA and NHL both being the same length

most Americans don't know that, especially in hockey hotbeds like Arizona, Ohio, and Oregon

good ol' Raptors. Take a 26-20 first quarter lead vs the 76ers and then shit all over it by losing the 2nd quarter by a score of 32-7

Looks like the Lakers went with Mike D'Antoni

LINK

It's a good move imo.

Hopefully they continue to suck though.

Wonder if Phil's demands were to high, since coaching salaries are down.

Definitely a good move, Kobe has always liked him and Nash plays his best when being coached by him.

Phil wanted more control over player personnel, travel restrictions and an ownership stake in the Lakers...and he wanted to be the highest paid coach.

I've heard that he didnt in fact want those extras. And that he didn't even have the oppurtunity to reject or accept the offer. Phil wanted to come back. And he's hurt by the way the Lakers went about this.

Personally I don't see D'Antoni leading them to a championship or even close to one.

It's going to come down to the Spurs and Thunder. Possibly the Clippers and Rockets in the mix also.

Lakers get ousted round 1 imo at the moment. If they even make it

I heard rumors where the Lakers were tired of waiting for an answer and hired D'Antoni instead. Another one was that Jackson didn't want to travel on road games.

D'Antoni is a run-and-gun and pick-and-roll coach with next to no defense schemes, that will not work in LA with 2 defensive studs in the starting 5 and none of those guys are under 30 (well Howard is but he's not built to run up and down the floor like Amare was). This will fail. They will not make it out of the 2nd round of the playoffs...much like Nash's career

edit: Bob Ryan on Prime Time Sports said that he might have wanted some say over personnel moves...aka take away some of the job from the GM

Being a Raptors fan is way too stressful.

Although, big props to Jose Calderon for his first triple double. Two big games for him back to back.

the Lakers aren't winning any championships as long as Pau is taking the game-winners

lower your expectations and all will be fine

5 points in the 4th quarter and they hold on by the hair on their chinny chin chin. The refs were not giving them any calls in the quarter, but they definitely could have scored a couple more baskets
