An "off the record" conversation with a UFC official telling the Nick Diaz camp that there were unusual rules in play for the UFC 158 weigh-in for his fight with Georges St. Pierre has drawn a generic answer from the Quebec commission.

I knew an extra hour and an .9 lbs was the reason GSP won all 5 rounds...

more information needs to come out about this; before this actually becomes something worth investigating more

I'd like to hear a bit more, as well. If it's true, that's pretty messed up. An extra hour, and not counting the decimal is a big deal. So, either fighter could have weighed in at 171.9, and successfully made weight

No it would have had to have been 170.9. You have to make exactly 170 in title fights. Your not allowed the extra pound.

I thought i read, initially, when this came out after the fight , because I remember noticing there were no decimals in the fighters weight? But I thought I read that this "conversation" was to let them know that they'd be allowed that extra pound normally not granted in title fights, as well as the knowledge that the scale didn't register decimals.

Overall shady business, but after 25 minutes of combat, I think any decimals of a pound were ruled out as any advantage

At first I wanted to dismiss this as a non story, but the .9lbs and extra hour could play a factor in weight cutting strategy. I don't think it had any outcome on the fight, but that is not really a minor omission....
