It's something you don't often hear in the MMA business. Melvin Guillard and Donald Cerrone said it was easier to agree to fight each other because they were friends.

"This is the first time we’re actually going to be able to throw punches and kicks and not have to pull them," Guillard said.

The two trained together at Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA in Albuquerque, N.M., and threw plenty of blows getting ready for fights, though none at the full speed required for the cage.

Neither has been tko'd.

Cerrone only has 1 tko win.

Should be fun, even though Cerrone should have a clear advantage on the ground.

I love the fact that their bout it bout it. They have no problem scrapping and then being cool afterward. This is a sport where your gonna fight your friends at some point and I don't see why they need to get pissed about it. It's not like they wanna call you out, its the matchup that Joel Silva and company set up. Go in, beat the Fuck out of eachother and get eachothers addresses so you can send the family Xmas gifts

It works out sometimes, other times were left Griffin/Franklin or Barry/Cro Cop.

I like it! the only thing I don't like about friends fighting is that some times they seem to know each other's game too well and it ends up looking like a sparrining match. Also the High five in the middle of a fight needs to go in my opinion, there's pleanty of time for that after.

This.

Was going to say something similar, sometimes guys will fight different if they have to fight a friend or training partner. Like I wouldn't want to see Koscheck vs Fitch.

I remember Ross Pearson and Andre Winner fighting on TUF finale and they were training partners and I remember that to be a less than exciting fight.

This fight is different b/c these two always bring it and I think they were one time training partners, b/c I don't think Guillard is still training at Greg Jackson's.

Another one, Jones vs Evans wasn't that great.
