"O Globo" reported today that the bout will be moved to Las Vegas, and rumors indicate that it might happen in UFC's July 7th show (UFC 148).

Anderson Silva's manager Ed Soares told TATAME on Monday that the bout is already signed for June 23, in Rio de Janeiro, but his Black House partner, Jorge Guimaraes, told TATAME today that the plans could change.

"This situation is already being discussed. There are some speculations. What you heard, I heard too. It seems like there are no hotels to fit everybody with UN's event, Rio+20", Guiamares said.

The article mentions something about moving Silva vs. Sonnen to 148 and leaving Wandy vs. Belfort as the 147 headliner? That would not go over well at all imo. Very weak main event, that will most likely be over early in the 1st.

I think it would be a pretty bad mistake to take this fight from Brazil. Where in Vegas can they fit 80k fans? Pushing the fight back further is also pretty annoying. I agree Wandy Belfort would be a very poor main event.

these fans are too crazy for sports, I mean look at what happened to Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos, 2 brazilian soccer legends, they pretty much had to go into hiding because of all the death threats they were getting. i know ppl have been joking, but to take what they could possibly do to chael sonnen lightly would be novice and could be huge in the negative for the UFC

I wouldn't doubt it. I really don't like Chael but taking him to fight in Brazil would be dumb. If someone's safety is really in danger then they shouldn't even mess with it.

Their fans were also using laser pointers on any non-Brazilians at the last event. About to be only Brazilians on any Brazil card most likely with the death threats, amount of objects thrown at the press and fighters, and laser pointers. I wouldn't fight there. I'd rather fight for fans who have some respect for the sport.

I think it has more to do with the UN conference being there than the fans. Don't get me wrong, if I'm Chael, I'm probably shitting my pants at the prospect of fighting Anderson in Rio. He's definitely earned the hatred of the fans there, but he hasn't earned what I'm thinking would happen to him if he were to fight there and especially, if he won. How does he get out of there except by helicopter? No man could walk down those aisles safely, not even Chael P, unless he and Andy had a big squash session after the fight.

The UFC is giving me to tickets to 148 so if this actually happens I'm not sure if I could handle the awesomeness ....

Whats the UN have to do with Brazilian fans being unruly and totally obnoxious??

Edit: ahh you were referring to the reason why the event is being moved
