NICK CATONE VS. CONSTANTINOS PHILIPPOU

Round 1 - Assuncao opens with a body kick with Koch stuff. He then lands a low kick. Koch goes high with a kick, but it's checked. Both fighters are testing their range. Assuncao attempts a low-kick/punch combo, but Koch snuffs it out. The fighters trade low kicks before Assuncao gets through a nice short right. Assuncao with a low kick, but Koch is working the jab. Neither guys will sit in the pocket too long. Koch snaps off some low kicks and Assuncao answers. Koch then lands the fight's best body kick and then instantly drops the Brazilian with a quick right hand. Assuncao is knocked out cold by the show, and the ref jumps on Koch before the follow punches come. Erik Koch def. Raphael Assuncao via KO (punch) - Round 1, 2:32

RAPHAEL ASSUNCAO VS. ERIK KOCH

Round 1 - Lots of circling early before Catone moves in with punches. Nothing lands, and they reset. Catone goes low with a kick Still little action a minute into the bout. Philippou has thrown nothing, but Catone looks for the occasional jab. Philippou whiffs on a low kick. Two minutes in, and still no action. Catone shoots and pins his opponent against the cage. They jockey for position, and Catone unloads a knee to the head while still looking for the takedown. Philippou fends it off, and they reset in the center. A firefighter breaks out, and Philippou gets the better of it before Catone regroups and retreats. They then trade solid jabs, which the crowd appreciates. Both fighter is working for a straight right, and each lands. The fighters trade, and Catone complains of an eyepoke, but the ref won't give a timeout. Catone is angry and shoots and gets the drag-takedown. He delivers a nice forearm and opens a deep head gash. Philippou delivers elbows from below as the round ends in entertaining fashion. It's close, but the final 10 seconds earn Catone the round, 10-9, on our scorecard.

Round 2 - Lots of circling early. We're 30 seconds in, and nothing has been thrown. Catone whiffs on a right, and Philippou counters with a couple nice shots. Catone clinches and puts him against the cage. Catone delivers a knee to the head and then works knees to the legs. He wants the takedown, but Philippou is defending well. Philippou works soft body shots that prove more a distraction. Catone looks for a single leg and fails but connects on a knee during the scramble. The pace slows midway through. Philippou swings with heavy hands but comes up short. He throws a laxy left and is countered with a solid right and then eats a high kick. Catone lands another. Philippou appears OK, but they landed well. Philippou moves in with lunging punches and clinches, but Catone puts him against the cage. Catone works knees to the inner thigh and dips for a takedown. Philippou defends, though. Catone keeps at it and finally gets the single-leg takedown. He lands in half guard and wrks elbows to the head. Philippou tries to tuck up under his opponent to avoid the shots. Catone briefly frees a leg, but Philippou pulls it back in. Catone, though, makes him pay with punches before the round ends. MMAjunkie.com scores another 10-9 for Catone.

Round 3 - Catone lands a nice combo. Philippou moves in, but Catone ducks and scores a nice double-leg takedown. He gets to half guard and looks for strikes from the top. Philippou pulls him close and tucks his head so Catone can only hit the back of his head, which prompts a ref's warning. Catone then uses forearm strikes to the face as Philippou pulls him into full guard. Catone delivers some more short punches. Philippou answers with some elbows. Catone postures up and drops punches. Philippou tries to roll free, but Catone is a blanket on top. Catone frees a leg as Philippou puts his back against the cage. Catone delivers some steady elbow strikes, and Philippou is stuck as Catone hops into mount. Catone starts to wail on his opponent. Philippou tries to pull him close, but the shots are getting through. Forearm strikes open some more cuts. Catone closes out the round with continued ground and pound to put the icing on the cake. MMAjunkie.com scores it 10-9 for Catone and 30-27 overall. The crowd cheers loudly for the local fighter.

JOSPEH BENAVIDEZ VS. IAN LOVELAND

Round 1 - Loveland puts Benavidez on the defensive with lunging shots but doesn't connect. The fighters scramble from the clinch. Benavidez looks for high kicks and eats a punch. Benavidez still the aggressor and gets the takedown, but Loveland hops right back up. Loveland lands a nice knee to the head but eats an equally impressive counter punch. Benavidez clinches and delivers knees against the cage, but Loveland breaks and partially connects on one of his own. Loveland lands a nice but sloppy combo. Benavidez is stalking and shoots, but Loveland fends it off. Benavidez presses him against the cage. The fighters trade nice shots in the center ans then leg kicks. Benavidez still is the stalker, but he's getting hit with the game plan and due to Loveland's reach. Benavidez gets through a nice right, but Loveland quickly counters. Benavidez shoots, but Loveland again stuffs it. Benavidez throws a leg kick and eats a right cross. Loveland connects on a lunging knee to the head and follows with a right. MMAjunkie.com scores an entertaining round 10-9 for Loveland.

Round 2 - Loveland stalks with punches, and Benavidez tags him with a knee. Loveland moves in again, but Benavidez breaks away. Loveland again moves in with lunging shots, but Benavidez scampers away. Benavidez's high kicks come up short, but he shoots and finally gets a takedown. Loveland grabs a kimura, reveres the position and gets back to his feet in a nice transition. Benavidez tags him with a left once up. Benavidez shoots, but Loveland stuffs it and pushes him to his back. Benavidez nearly gets caught in a guillotine on the way up. They reset. Benavidez shoots, comes up short, and Loveland pops him with a hammerfist before he's up. Benavidez shoots again, but Loveland easily defends. Benavidez unleashes a wild combo, and the final punch lands nicely. Loveland sidesteps next the next one. Benavidez lands a jab and then a front kick. He moves in with another combo, but he's not getting much behind the punches. Benavidez lands a couple punches and then ducks when Loveland shoots. Loveland nearly flies over him, but Benavidez grabs him and puts him on his back. Benavidez works from half guard. The pace slows as Loveland ties him up. Benavidez works some elbows. Loveland hops back up and narrowly checks a high kick. It's a close round, but MMAjunkie.com scores it 10-9 for Benavidez.

Round 3 - Benavidez wings a left but eats a counter right. Loveland moves in with two nice rights and then delivers a solid knee when Benavidez shoots. Benavidez wings a left that just misses. Benavidez creates distance with a front kick and then partially lands an overhand right. Benavidez shoots, but Loveland stuffs it. Benavidez shoots and gets the double-leg takedown. Loveland is against the cage and tries to get back up and gets to his knees. He's back up, and Benavidez seems a bit frustrated. Loveland connects with a lunging right while easily shrugging off a high kick. Benavidez finally gets through a heavy blow and forces the takedown. He moves into side control. Benavidez works elbows to the head. Loveland rolls to his knees and gets back up and tags Benavidez with a knee in the process. Loveland throws a wild body kick that aprtially lands. Benavidez shoots and gets the single leg and forces another takedown with a minute to go. Loveland again escapes, though. Loveland lands a nice combo and then a flying knee and then drags Benavidez to the mat. Benavidez is back up, though, just as the round ends. It's another close round, but the big punch midway through got Benavidez the round, 10-9, and the fight, 29-28, on our card. It's close, though.

Joseph Benavidez def. Ian Loveland via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)

KURT PELLEGRINO VS. GLEISON TIBAU

Round 1 - Lots of circling early. Tibau strikes first, but Pellegrino charges forward with a combo that comes up short. Tibau throws a right-left that just misses. Tibau lands a nice left, clinches, and then puts Pellegrino against the cage. The fighters trade knees to the legs. The fighters trade jabs, but little is landing. Pellegrino unloads a flurry, but Tibau gets the better of it. Pellegrino stalks, shoots for a single leg, spins his opponent, but can't get the takedown. They clinch, and Tibau puts him against the cage. Tibua gets the takedown, but Pellegrino hops right back up, and the Jersey crowd voices it pleasure. Pellegrino shoots and looks for a takedown, but Tibau defends and then reverses and puts his opponent against the cage. The fighters trade elbows on the break. It's a very close round that MMAjunkie.com scores 10-10.

Round 2 - The fighters paw their jabs. Pellegrino is backed up with a right and nearly eats a left. He signals to Tibau for some action. Not much is landing, but Pellegrino gets through a right that wobbles his opponent, and he then picks up and body slams Tibau. Pellegrino delivers punches from the top. Tibau is coherent and defending, but Pellegrinos is controlling him from half guard. Pellegrino works forearm strikes and punches to the body. The pace slows as Tibau ties him up. Pellegrino gets through a right, but Tibau gets back to his feet. The round ends without much action. This one clearly goes to Pellegrino, 10-9, though.

Round 3 - Tibau lands a lunging right and looks for an opening with his power left. He clinches, but Pellegrino avoids the takedown. Pellegrino checks a head kick. Lots of circling and whiffing again. Pellegrino moves in with a right and eats a left. The fighters are throwing plenty, but little is finding its mark. Tibau shoots for a takedown, but Pellegrino sprawls and is put against the cage. They eventually break off and reset. Tibau lands a jab and straight left and then a left short hook. Pellegrino shoots for a single leg, but Tibau defends and puts his back against the cage to stay upright. Pellegrino looks for the drag takedown, but Tibau reverses. Pellegrino gets back up, Tibau takes him down, and Pellegrino eats a punch on the way back up before putting him against the cage and looking for a single leg. Pellegrino continues working for it, but Tibau breaks off. Tibau shoots and gets the single-leg takedown. He works from full guard and delivers short punches from the top. He follows with hammerfists and heavier punches. Pellegrino rolls to his knees and gets to his feet, and rolls and grabs a leg as the bell sounds. MMAjunkie.com scores the round 10-9 for Tibau and a 29-29 draw overall.

RICARDO ALMEIDA VS. MIKE PYLE

Round 1 - Almeida goes low with a kick. Pyle answers, and Almeida returns low and then high. Both fighters testing range. Pyle goes low with another kick. Almeida took an eye poke but shakes it off. The fighters trade power shots, but not much is landing. Almeida shoots, but Pyle slams him to the mat and then walks away. Almeida shoots again, but Pyle defends and puts him against the cage. They break and reset. Almeida shoots and gets the takedown, but Pyle is right back up. He eats a punch but nearly grabs a guillotine. Almeida lets his hands fly and has some success before pinning Pyle against the cage. Pyle grabs the Muay Thai clinch, but he doesn't have the position against the cage. Almeida dips and eats a knee. MMAjunkie.com scores a tactical first round 10-9 for Almeida.

Round 2 - Pyle throws a soft low kick, and Almeida answers Almeida lands a nice body kick, ducks under a punch and gets the takedown. Pyle leans against the cage and hops back up. The fighters jockey for position against the cage, though Pyle remains pinned. Almeida dips for a single leg, but Pyle resets. Almeida moves in with a right, but Pyle gets the brief takedown before Almeida is back up and easily fighting off a guillotine. Almeida extends a long left jab. The pace slows, and the boo birds come out. Almeida clinches and puts Pyle against the cage before he escapes and resets in the center. Pyle lands a low kick. Almeida answers with one of his own. Almeida lands a nice left and shoots for a double leg and gets it. Almeida works punches to the body. Almeida closes out the round in full guard and the top position. It's another close one, but MMAjunkie.com scores it 10-9 for Almeida.

Round 3 - The fighters trade low kicks. Little action early. The fighters swing and circle, but little is landing, the crowd isn't happy. The fighters trade some jabs, and Almeida gets through a lunging right. Pyle works body kicks and then stuffs a takedown. Pyle gets a nifty trip takedown. He stands over Almeida and considers whether to move in. Almeida shoots upa nd grabs a leg and puts him against the cage. Almeida looks for a single leg and gives media row a wink while against the cage. The pace stalls in the clinch. Almeida looks for a single leg, Pyle tries to break with a knee, and he eats a left. Almeida shoots and gets the takedown, but Pyle immediately is back up. Almeida continues working for the takedown, but Pyle gets a brief takedown as the round ends to boos. MMAjunkie.com scores a close round 10-9 for Pyle but 29-28 overall for Almeida.

Mike Pyle def. Ricardo Almeida via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)

EDSON BARBOZA VS. ANTHONY NJOKUANI

Round 1 - The fighters test their range. Each striker light on his feet. Njokuani strikes first with a low kick, and Barboza answers with a body kick and punch that knocks his opponent off balance. Njokuani works jabs, and Barboza pops him with punches and a kick before resetting. Njokuani with a body kick. Njokuani works low kicks. Barboza misses on a punch and eats one. Barboza snaps off a low kick. Njokuani creates distance with a front kick and lands a nice body punch and kick to the ribs. Barboza just blocks a big right. Njokuani lands a knee from the clinch, and they reset. A timeout is called when Njokuani takes a finger to the eye, but they quickly reset. Njokuani mixes in a nice combo of body kicks and follows with a low kick. Njokuani is dictating the pace. Barboza lands a right and eats a left. Njokuani is clearly confident. It's a strategic first round that MMAjunkie.com scores 10-9 for Njokuani.
Round 2 - Njokuani lands a nice high kick and then goes low. The fighters swing wild punches, and Barboza takes a low blow. We quickly restart. Njokuani works low kicks. A touch of gloves follows an inadvertent low kick. Njokuani works jabs, and Barboza is too slow with the counter, but he lands a solid right. Njokuani with a superman punh/kick combo that just misses. Njokuani firing off lots of punches from different angles, but little is landing. Barboza sneaks throws a nice shot and throws a high kick, but Njokuani catches it and sends him across the cage for the takedown. Barboza is back up swinging quickly. The fighters trade low kicks. Njokuani lands a spinning back elbow. Barboza answers with a low kick, and they trade front, low and body kicks. They clinch, and Barboza breaks with a punch. Njokuani continues firing off numerous punches and kicks. Barboza clinches and resets and misses with a big head kick. Barboza dips for a single leg and gets a big takedown. Njokuani puts his back against the cage. but Barboza pulls him out puts him on his back before the round ends. It's a close one, but MMAjunkie.com scores it 10-9 for Barboza.

Round 3 - A touch of gloves gets us started. Njokuani pushes his opponent back his opponent with a front kick. Barboza goes low with kicks. The fighters grunt while throwing low kicks. Njokuani works kicks, but Barboza opens up with his hands and lands some flush shots. They trade more low kicks. Barboza lands some lunging punches and follows with a head kick. Njokuani answers with low kicks and a lunging knee to the gut. Barboza just misses on a spinning kick and then an overhand right when they briefly clinch. Another spinning back kick just misses. Barboza is defending most of Njokuani's kicks. Barboza catches a kick and forces the takedown in the final moments of the fight, but Njokuani gets back up and eats a flashy spinning back high kick. MMAjunkie.com scores it 10-9 for Barboza.

Edson Barboza def. Anthony Njokuani (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

LUIZ CANE VS. ELIOT MARSHALL

Round 1 - The fighters are testing their range. Not much landing earlier. Cane checks a head kick and fires off a body kick. Marshall shoots for a single leg, but Cane shoves him away. Marshall throws a left and then a lunging right, but Cane puns him against the cage and delivers some body shots. He then drops Marshall and unloads a barrage of punches. Dozens of blows land, but Marshall miraculously defends. Cane continues countless blows, dozens and dozens. Once Marshall covers up for good, the bout is mercifully stopped.

I picked Shaub but I was a little apprehensive, because he has the kind of fighting style that will give Crocop a great shot at winning. I picked 2nd round TKO, but I'm sort of wishing I had picked a UD, Crocop is ridiculously tough.

Judging by the description Catone has a decision in the bag if the fight doesn't get finished. Who knows with MMA judges, but the descriptions make it sound like Catone is finishing the relatively close rounds with takedowns and flurries, which is almost always what judges look at.
