I agree iwth most of the posters on there- Aleks looked kind of sloppy. He wasn't defending the jab worth jack

ill give him the benefit of the doubt though and say that ring rust played a pretty big part in this. he did fight early on this year, but that wasnt really top competition either so he hasnt really been pushed or forced to be that good for awhile now.

I've never thought that Aleks was that crisp/technical of a striker. His best showings on the feet usually come against weaker strikers, i.e. Ricardo Morais. He looked rather sloppy, but you might be right, the ring rust might be a contributing factor. I am actually interested to see how Paul Buentello would have faired against him, they looked rather similar, despite Aleks scoring the KO. Oh well, I guess a knockout's a knockout.

Aleks has some of the best hands in the HW division imo. Tbh, i think the main factor was how seriously he took the fight. Hes hardly fighting opponents of his calibre so i dont think his hearts in it as much.

I don't know what to say....he did look sloppy, and out of shape. He was walking toward his opponent flat footed and with his hands down. Really kind of disappointed..........

Looked out of shape, little head movement and kinda like he didn't care.

You guys are right- it's probably just the lack of opponent calibre. Although I hate to give a fighter that excuse. I think you should take every fight seriously no matter who it is. After all- it's MMA - anything can happen.

I don't know if I was watching a different fight or what... but Aleks dominated that guy... The reason he wasn't defending the jab, IMO, is that he was trying to key that sneaking left hook to straight right combo off of it... I think he was comfortable enough with his reach / size / overall striking advantage not to have too much to worry about...

I guess I just think you guys are being a little overly critical... Aleks has fast hands and decent movement, and can pretty easily handle any HW standing, IMO... He KO'd his opponent in like 4 minutes, it just makes me wonder why eveyone is so "dissappointed" in his performance???
