Spencer “The King” Fisher made his Ultimate Fighting Championship debut at the promotion’s Ultimate Fight Night 2 event after establishing an amazing record of 14 wins and only one loss with various smaller leagues. Born in Brevard, California on May 9th, 1976, Fisher won that UFC opening match in the second round with a submission move against Thiago Alves, impressing UFC management and earning himself a contract.
In a fight versus tough Canadian warrior Sam Stout for which Fisher reportedly had to lose 20 pounds in two weeks, the northern fighter won with a split decision, giving Fisher his first UFC loss. In his next UFC battle “The King” took on Matt Wiman, scoring a technical knockout in the second round after delivering a stunning flying knee to Wiman’s head. That same flying knee earned Fisher his third straight UFC victory at UFC 64 when he knocked Dan Lauzon out in the first round.
An appearance on Ultimate Fight Night 8 ended Fisher’s winning run when Hermes Franca delivered a TKO due to strikes in the second round. While Fisher recuperated from that bout he was scheduled to meet Sam Stout in a rematch slated for the UFC 58 event. Fisher won that bout with a unanimous decision, clearly controlling the hard fought match throughout.
