Mark Weir - The Wizard
Mark “The Wizard” Weir was born on September 19th, 1967 in Gloucester, England. After beginning his training with judo and boxing, Weir later switched to Taw Kwon Doe and earned his black belt in that martial art in 1998 from Master Hee Il Cho. He won the World Championships of Tae Kwon Doe in both 1988 and 1991.
“The Wizard” made his debut with the Ultimate Fighting Championship at UFC 38 on July 13th, 2002, knocking out opponent Eugene Jackson at ten seconds of the very first round in front of a home crowd in London, England at the Royal Albert Hall.
His next two Ultimate Fighting Championship appearances ended in losses against Phillip Miller at UFC 40 and David Loiseau at UFC 42, causing the organization to end his contract with them. Around that time Weir began hosting classes in his hometown of Gloucester, teaching Range Fighting, a custom style of martial arts combining tactics used in Muay Thai, boxing, Jiu Jitsu, and ground fighting.
