Heath Herring - The Texas Crazy Horse

Given the name “The Texas Crazy Horse” due to his proficiency with kicks of all kinds, Heath Herring has been a character within professional fighting circles for quite some time. Known for his unique hair colors and styles and his entrance grab (a cowboy hat and trench coat), Herring backs up his outrageous sense of style with his ability to consistently win fights.

Herring is well-trained in wrestling, sambo and Muay Thai and has trained extensively in kickboxing as well. His unique fighting style usually sees him throwing as many kicks and knees as possible, often ending fights with the same. Herring fought in the PRIDE organization for many years, winning the vast majority of his bouts. While he had many memorable moments while with PRIDE, the most renowned of those took place at the K-1 Dynamite 2005 show. During the pre-fight meet and subsequent stare down Herring’s opponent, Yoshihiro Nakao, leaned in and kissed him. Herring immediately lashed out with a punch, ending the fight before it began; the decision was eventually ruled a no-contest with both fighters disqualified due to foul.

Herring moved quickly to the Ultimate Fighting Championship, losing two of his first three bouts in what many refer to as “lackluster” fights.
