Bryan Vetell was born on July 26th, 1977 in New York City, New York. Vetell began his training later then usual, wrestling in high school and waiting until after college to expand his skill set. Vetell earned his purple belt in Jiu Jitsu in 2005.
Vetell made his professional mixed martial arts debut on June 30th, 2006, battling Chris Clarke at Extreme Challenge 67 and winning the fight with a keylock submission. Vetell would go on to lose two of this next three matches with the International Fight League against Ben Rothwell, Mo Fowzi, and Devin Cole.
